Supervisor, Global Logistics

Position Overview

Responsible for leading the Logistics team and ensuring import-export activities and transactions comply with Customs and other government agency regulations. Function as an import/export resource for the organization. Job duties:
  • Lead a group of individuals of varying technical experience to develop import and export process and ensure compliance with customs regulations (e.g., shipment follow-up, customs holds, FDA requests, freight forwarder special request, etc.).
  • Maintain direct communications with carriers, Customs, government offices, suppliers, warehouses, customs brokers, and others involved.
  • Establish best practices for import/export operation process controls and procedures.
  • Conduct process improvement and cost savings projects for the area.
  • Communicate project status and issues in a timely, clear, and appropriate manner to the organization.
  • Work closely with:
    • Purchasing and Warehouse to prioritize inbound shipments.
    • Raw Material Warehouse for claims, delivery issues and any special requests.
    • Finished Goods 3PL on the daily export activities and any special requests.
    • Engineering or any MVI Department requests (e.g., equipment moves, material transfers to new sites, or any special request and projects).
  • Ensure efficient, cost-effective logistics solutions with other plants and 3rd party processing facilities.
  • Develop and maintain global logistics metrics.
  • Manage freight logistics provider.
  • Control freights spend for logistics providers.
  • Support Finance team on logistics budget analysis spend (e.g., review freight invoices and rates, provide spend reports, etc.).
  • Comply with applicable Laws and Regulations, adhere to Quality Management System processes and requirements as well as demonstrate Ethics and Integrity in all matters and at all levels throughout the organization.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Salary Range:

$70,000 - $95,000 Salary can be higher based on education, experience and skill set

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    2. A minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience in import/export and transportation with a distributor or manufacturer.
    3. A minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience.
    4. Prior experience in logistics environment required.
    5. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    6. Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
    Desired Qualifications
    1. Strong background in Warehouse and Logistics.
    2. High level of technical acuity and good analytical skills.
    3. Strong computer knowledge, including MS Office and JD Edwards or similar ERP.
    4. General knowledge of key trade areas, including, but not limited to, EAR, HTS, CFR, NAFTA, AES, etc.
    5. Ability to train, coach, and mentor.
    6. Project coordination ability (attention to detail).
