Junior IT Systems Administrator

Position Overview

Administers, deploys, maintains and supports on-premises and cloud infrastructure technology services inclusive and not limited to routers, switches, firewalls, servers, storage, workstations, wireless access points, etc. handling intermediate to complex issues. Provide technical expertise and lead infrastructure and/or systems projects. Also, provide timely technical support for all onsite and remote end-users for all technical related and user issues focusing on excellent customer service when prioritized. Job duties:
  • Administer core infrastructure technologies and related services including Microsoft on-premises or cloud infrastructure, virtualization (Hyper-V) and enterprise storage.
  • Ensure operational stability of technologies and services supporting the lines of business and headcount growth.
  • Monitor the health of all systems, remediate issues, identify trends and present results to IT Management.
  • Vendor management on related IT Services and verification of proper service, support and terms are satisfied.
  • Oversee, troubleshoot and manage all barcode scanners, mobile devices and labeling system for all production sites.
  • Participate and/or lead in technical integrations activities in support of company expansion or future acquisitions.
  • Provide guidance and/or knowledge transfer to mentor entry level IT associates.
  • Properly troubleshoot more complex end user issues and escalate when necessary in a timely manner.
  • Maintain broad technical knowledge on current and emerging technologies relevant to the enterprise environment.
  • Document and diagram technologies of infrastructure and systems at all supported sites.
  • Provide after-hours support for infrastructure related emergencies as well as occasional weekend maintenance when necessary.
  • Perform, monitor, routinely validate and document necessary backups and restores.
  • Diagnoses and resolves problems with applications, communications and operating systems minimizing re-occurrence.
  • Follow all proper company and IT procedures related to processing all incidents and changes within the IT environment.
  • Helps to lower ticket queues whenever available.
  • Mentor and train lower level IT associates in areas of infrastructure and systems.
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned.

    1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or closely related field or equivalent experience.
    2. Two to three (2-3) years of experience in administering servers (Microsoft 2008/2012/2016), virtualization, backup solutions, storage and networking.
    3. Eight (8) or more years of experience working in an IT support role.
    Desired Qualifications
    1. Microsoft Certifications (MCSE or MCSA).
    2. Ability to multitask and prioritize projects/tasks accordingly to meet timelines and specific dates.
    3. Exceptional attention to detail, able to work within a team environment as well as autonomously.
    4. Comprehensive technical knowledge of Windows Server 2008/2012/2016, virtualization, cloud services (Azure), storage, backup solutions and networking.
    5. Advanced troubleshooting in the areas of networking, systems, servers and storage.
    6. Excellent interpersonal skills and focused service to exceed client requests.
