Our summer internship program immerses each intern in an interactive, project-based work environment. Over the span of three months, interns will participate in an in-depth orientation week, facility tours, Leadership Speaker Series Q&A panel, community service activities, baseball games, and beach bashes—all crafted to invest in our interns’ personal and professional development. Engineering Intern

The Engineering Intern will support the Equipment and Process Engineering Group in development of medical device products through design, development, and project management. The Engineering Intern will focus on testing equipment, fixtures, and tooling to ensure concepts and/or prototypes meet their requirements. Typical job duties might include:
  • Designing custom fixturing, tooling, and/or equipment
  • Evaluating and improving Manufacturing and R&D processes
  • Assembling, repairing, testing, and qualifying equipment and fixtures
  • Creating test methods, analyzing data, and generating test reports
Engineering Interns work with a fast-paced, collaborative team and gain a wide range of invaluable skills including test method development, equipment componentry/design, manufacturing processes and best practices, data generation and analysis, machining, and engineering communication.
    1. Working toward a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or other related discipline.
    2. Creative, inquisitive and demonstrates a strong desire to “build” and “create” (i.e. robotics, mechanical repair, construction)
    3. Knowledge of SolidWorks to generate 3D models, assemblies, detailed drawings, and perform drafting duties as assigned
    4. Demonstrated experience reading & preparing technical documentation, such as experimental test reports
    5. Computer experience and skills, including MS Word and Excel.

    Desired Qualifications
    1. Advanced analytical capability and organization skills
    2. Strong mechanical aptitude
    3. Coursework in Solidworks 2-D/3-D drawings
    4. Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment and autonomously.
    5. Experience working with equipment in a Machine Shop (Manual Mill, Lathe, etc.)
