Position Overview
PLM Engineering Intern The internship is for an individual who wants to broaden their skills and take on diverse responsibilities as part of a fast-growing advanced medical technology company that will impact millions of lives. Your position will be a key part of the business and perform duties essential to the smooth running of operations. You will be provided exposure to Manufacturing concepts such as: Bill of Materials (BOMs), Build Records (BRs), PLM – Windchill, ERP – SAP, CAD Drawings, SOLIDWORKS, all while building a skill set that is essential to the growth of someone looking to start developing a career in this vertical. Besides learning key facets of the business, you will also get the opportunity to interact with other important departments in the organization and have a wholesome view for the overall business. The majority of the training for this position will be “On the Job” (OTJ) while providing support to different functions within the company’s different departments. In addition, this position offers the flexibility of working from home on a Hybrid schedule and is compatible with school schedules. Typical duties include:
- Report to PLM Manager to identify risks and recommend steps for escalation, prioritization, and risk mitigation
- Identify training required to ensure appropriate level of business acumen for management team and engineering
- Support a range of engineering activities for new product development
- Review and update BOMs and Device History Records (DHRs)
- Support manufacturing operations and business process applications (PLM, SAP, MES)
- Assist in providing training to all departments
- Performs additional responsibilities as assigned
- Required Qualifications
- Working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
- Experience working effectively and confidently in a team environment
- Strong analytical/critical thinking and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- MS Office proficiency with emphasis on Excel software
- Understand the meaning of data analysis to provide value for business decisions
- Microsoft Office Suite – Outlook, Powerpoint, Word, Excel
- Interest/experience in the medical device industry
- SOLIDWORKS experience is a plus
- Adaptability and time management skills
- The primary work location for this position is Aliso Viejo, CA (company headquarters). However, depending on the company policy, an individual should be able to work from home if necessary (high internet)
