Position Overview

The Engineering Intern will support the Equipment and Process Engineering Group in development of medical device products through design, development, and project management. The Engineering Intern will focus on testing equipment, fixtures, and tooling to ensure concepts and/or prototypes meet their requirements. Typical job duties might include:

  • Designing custom fixturing, tooling, and/or equipment

  • Evaluating and improving Manufacturing and R&D processes

  • Assembling, repairing, testing, and qualifying equipment and fixtures

  • Creating test methods, analyzing data, and generating test reports

  • Troubleshooting equipment and process-related issues

  • Drafting documents including equipment qualification and software validation

Engineering Interns work with a fast-paced, collaborative team and gain a wide range of invaluable skills including test method development, equipment componentry/design, manufacturing processes and best practices, data generation and analysis, machining, and engineering communication.

  • Required Qualifications

    • Working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or other related discipline

    • Creative, inquisitive, and able to demonstrate a strong desire to “build” and “create” (i.e. robotics, mechanical repair, auto repair, construction)

    • Demonstrated experience reading & preparing technical documentation, such as experimental test reports

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively both in a team environment and autonomously

    • Computer experience and skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel

    Desired Qualifications

    • Advanced problem solving capabilities and organization skills

    • Strong mechanical aptitude

    • Knowledge of SolidWorks to generate 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings

    • Experience working with equipment in a Machine Shop (Manual Mill, Lathe, etc.)

    Additional Information

    • The primary work location for this position is Aliso Viejo, CA (company headquarters).

    • This internship is a hybrid of on-site and virtual working environments.

    • Relocation may be available for qualified candidates.

    • Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S. and not require visa sponsorship.
