Position Overview

Create and/or support development of new tooling, equipment, and fixtures to significantly reduce variation in new and existing manufacturing processes resulting in improved productivity, throughput and reduced scrap. Evaluate manufacturing operations during early stages of development. Provide plans for improved tooling and fixtures allowing for robust operations at the time of product launch.
  1. Design and develops equipment, tools and fixtures for new products, product changes, and enhancements
  2. Work closely with Tool Room Team to provide clear documentation and communication to allow for efficient fabrication
  3. Interface with other departments to solve production process problems
  4. Document all tool, fixture and equipment designs (i.e., spare parts, calibration requirements, preventive maintenance as part of design package)
  5. Provide financial and capacity justification for new equipment, tools, and fixtures
  6. Searches and implements new technologies to improve manufacturing operations
  7. Additional duties as assigned
    1. B. S. Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred)
    2. Five to seven years of related experience
    3. Ability to effectively present proposals to end-users of technology, equipment, tools, and fixtures to achieve user acceptance
    4. Strong creative and critical thinking skills
    5. Strong knowledge of ergonomic and safety principles for application in tool and equipment design
    6. Excellent communication skills including the ability to present proposals and negotiate with vendors
    7. Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional organizational environment
    8. Proficient computer skills including Solid Works, Auto CAD, MS Word and Excel
    9. Working knowledge of standard machine shop equipment and processes
    10. Knowledge of medical and technical development
