Position Overview

Responsible for the strategic leadership and management of MicroVention’s global manufacturing production, materials management, customer service, and distribution activities based in California, Costa Rica, and a third location (TBD). As a key member of the executive leadership team, report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Job duties:
  • Partner with the CEO and members of the executive leadership team to develop and implement MicroVention’s strategic objectives and key focus areas.
  • Demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.
  • Establish the vision and strategy for the Global Operations function.
  • Build a world-class operations organization to meet the growing needs of the business.
  • Build a high-performing talent bench within Operations through the hiring and development of the Operations team.
  • Increase the effectiveness and efficiencies of the manufacturing processes, products, and production.
  • Ensure product quality and compliance activities are consistently high to ensure patient safety.
  • Develop and manage budgets for Operations; monitor and take corrective action to assure that budgets are met. Actively engage with local communities, industry organizations, and governments to build solid partnerships. Represent MicroVention at industry events.
  • Design and implement best practices in Operations Policies and Procedures.
  • Engage with business partners to plan, develop, organize, implement, direct, and evaluate the impact of proposed global regulatory, quality, and clinical research changes to current manufacturing processes and impact to market.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and report on Key Performance Indicators for all areas of global operations.
  • In partnership with the Operations leadership team, ensure the Operations team goals and objectives are aligned with MicroVention’s strategies, and team/individual goals support the achievement of the business/functional goals while providing professional growth and development.
  • Ensure their knowledge of global medical device regulations is current to provide insight in decision making concerning regulations and to cross-functional departments requiring information regarding policies and procedures.
  • Support the investigation of complaints, product quality issues, and serious quality incident reports, including injury/death reports, assuring appropriate priority, diligence, and corrective action as appropriate.
  • Build a high-performance, highly engaged functional culture aligned to the corporate culture to ensure the Global Operations team can attract, develop, engage, and retain talented associates.
  • Travel internationally as required.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required.

    1. BS degree in Engineering required.
    2. Experience working in medical device or pharmaceutical industry.
    3. Fifteen or more (15+) years of experience in leading senior management teams in mid to large sized companies.
    4. Experience building and scaling international and domestic teams and systems.
    5. Extensive knowledge of US and foreign regulations relative to the design, manufacture, and marketing of medical devices.

    1. Advanced degree in Business (MBA) or master’s degree preferred.

    4. Functional Acumen – deep understanding of manufacturing, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
    5. Leadership & Management Acumen – display strong ethics and integrity, understand how to build strategy, and mobilize a team to action; provide coaching and development to build the operations talent bench; and collaborate with the MicroVention executive leadership team to establish a strong culture to enable employees to do their best work.
