Position Overview

The role of the CAD Specialist is to work closely with R&D and Operations in providing a key component of the product lifecycle management on all production cases. This position will support engineering by creating assembly drawings, standard drawings, and models. Job duties:
  • Supports a moderate range of engineering activities for new product development.
  • Designs, develops, and tests simple to moderate complexity assembly and test fixtures.
  • Assists R&D Engineers with product development by rapidly prototyping designs, evaluating design performance, troubleshooting and understanding failure modes, and proposing design improvements.
  • Performs design and drafting assignments requiring advanced working knowledge of design/drafting standards, practices, and techniques.
  • Updates CAD drawings in accordance with PLM standards.
  • Reports to PLM Manager to identify risks and recommends steps for escalation, prioritization and risk mitigation.
  • Modifies and performs mechanical drawing updates for initial release in collaboration with the R&D Engineering team.
  • Manages, reviews, and updates CAD files in accordance to MicroVention CAD standards.
  • Prepares and maintains application technical documents using GD&T standards.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
    1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    2. Minimum 2 years of experience with CAD Application.
    3. Proficient in planning both immediate and long-term tasks; strong problem solving and analytical skills.
    4. Ability to serve as a CAD specialist for complex and unique projects.
    5. Substantial understanding of drafting principles, techniques and procedures.
    6. Experience designing, building, and preparing prototypes, sub-assemblies, feasibility test units, and samples.
    7. Proficiency in general Microsoft applications including MS Word and Excel.
    Required Qualifications
    1. Ability to work in a manufacturing team environment, coordinating with many departments in an effective and efficient manner.
    2. A problem-solver with strong analytical, planning, and communication skills who can prioritize effectively.
    3. Prior experience on PLM/ERP applications a plus
    4. Knowledge in 3D printing technology is a plus
    5. Solid understanding of general manufacturing processes.
    6. Ability to work both independently and as a team member with minimal direction.
