Under guidance and supervision, evaluates the chemical and physical properties of various organic and inorganic substances in order to investigate their applications to the medical device industry. Job duties:
  • Primary work location is in the R&D chemistry laboratory. Secondary work location is in an office environment.
  • Handles chemicals safely in accordance with approved processes and procedures.
  • Performs laboratory tasks under direct supervision.
  • Performs chemical reactions, including polymerization, coupling, derivatization, and digestion.
  • Performs chemical processes, including dissolution, extraction, precipitation, and filtration.
  • Able to utilize general laboratory equipment independently.
  • Performs analytical testing using established methods in high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography (GC), inductively coupled plasma – mass spectroscopy (ICP-MS), and infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).
  • Perform simulated use, in vitro testing to determine performance of current, competitive, and proposed products.
  • Performs analysis of lab and analytical results to summarize, report, and make conclusions.
  • Writes internal documentation, including test methods and procedures.
  • Disposes of waste chemicals and materials following approved safety processes and procedures.
    1. Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry.
    2. 0-2 years experience
    3. Medical device industry experience preferred
