Cerebral Aneurysms

The prevalence of cerebral aneurysms in the United States is estimated to be approximately 2% - 5% of the population
.

An estimated 50,000 patients in the United States are treated annually for cerebral aneurysms, with another 100,000 patients either undergoing surgery or endovascular treatment throughout the world.

The MicroPlex Coil System and the HydroCoil Embolization System are both designed for endovascular placement in a cerebral aneurysm to occlude the aneurysmal sac, thereby stabilizing and isolating the aneurysm from the neurovasculature. Specific benefits of these MicroVention technologies include:

-- Ability to treat wide neck aneurysms.
-- Improved healing at the aneurysm neck.
-- More complete filling of the aneurysm.
-- Rapid thrombosis of the aneurysm.
-- Minimal migration.
-- Durable, long-term results.
-- Safety and handling characteristics equivalent or superior to other existing products.

Endovascular treatment of cerebral aneurysms offers numerous advantages over surgery, including less invasive access, reduced hospitalization and recovery time, reduced risk of infection, and substantially reduced overall cost.
